MegaCorp is a rising star in the provisioning of cloud computing services. Its primary offerings are in the area of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and it is quickly gaining a very positive national presence in the IS industry. MegaCorp provides all the standard cloud IaaS offerings, including on-demand and long-term processing, storage, and virtual machine management systems. MegaCorp is now considering offering a variety of new services and has decided to set up a dedicated business intelligence (BI) operation to provide assessments of the marketability and competitive capability of specific cloud services. Because MegaCorp believes the proper utilization of this BI system will provide significant competitive advantage,
it is willing to equip it with the latest systems and services. The operation, to be known as the “Surf Shoppe”, will be housed in a separate facility on the main MegaCorp corporate campus. The Surf Shoppe will, however, receive all external information services from the main MegaCorp headquarter building. The building will house 20 employees, half of whom will be engaged in online research. One-half dozen employees will be charged with product development. There will also be two administrative support persons, a dedicated IT system administrator, and a project leader who will have space in the building. It is absolutely imperative that the Surf Shoppe operation remains a corporate secret, until such time as the CIO deems it wise to reveal it. You must set up a Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory domain structure for the Surf Shoppe personnel. The Surf Shoppe domain will be part of the MegaCorp forest.

Write a five to eight (5-8) page paper in which you cover the following considerations:

1. Determine how you will organize the domain, organizational units, and groups to support operations.

2. Analyze what services you will need to provide in order to connect to, and yet remain separate from, the MegaCorp forest structure.

3. Determine the types of access necessary for Surf Shoppe staff to be able to use standard corporate IT resources and how you will provide this access.

4. The Surf Shoppe building is a three-story building, with a long-term tenant on the second floor. You plan to divide the 20 Surf Shoppe staff evenly between the first and third floors, each of whom requires a secure workstation. You must maintain secure highly available services, between both the first and third floor staff and the main MegaCorp headquarter building. Briefly explain the options for providing a link between the floors that will meet the requirement (i.e., provide a list of the minimum equipment necessary to accomplish this).

5. The tenant on the second floor is an online consumer catalog research service, known as WebHeads. The company consists of about one half-dozen very technically savvy men and women who divide their time between work and online gaming. They also utilize the communications link from the MegaCorp headquarter building. Evaluate the logical and physical security implications of sharing the building with WebHeads.

6. Create an argument for how you are providing an effective (logical and physical) defense-in- depth.

7. As part of your argument, create a supporting, summarizing graphic, depicting your plan, using Visio or a substantially similar freeware application such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
